Hinge plate of left valve with a spatulate chondrophore, the upper surface of which is concave; posterior to this is a bluntly rounded, heavy, fairly long cardinal tooth."

Holotype .--UCMP 30836. According to Keen and Bentson (1944, p. 71) the holotype is missing. Paratypes: UCMP 30837, 30838.

Type locality.--UC A-1297. Solano County, Calif. Markley Formation, Eocene.

Occurrence in California.--Eocene: Markley Formation (Clark, 1938).

Myadesma? pacifica (Hall and Ambrose)

Mesodesma pacifica Hall and Ambrose, 1916, p. 79.

Myadesma pacifica (Hall and Ambrose). Clark, 1922, p. 118, pl. 13, fig. 5.

Original description.--"Right valve. Cast. Shell subtrigonal, inequilateral. Beak small. Posterior end truncate, at extremity making angle of 133 [degrees] at beak between posterior dorsal margin and anterior dorsal margin, anterior margin straight, abruptly truncated at end, deep furrow cutting at angle of 25 [degrees] to anterior dorsal margin from beak, gradually disappearing until obscure at center of valve."

Holotype.--CAS/SU 513.

Type locality.--SU C-209. Pleasanton Quad., Alameda County, Calif. Briones Sandstone, San Pablo Group, Miocene.
