Q&A

Who should attend this seminar?
The seminar is designed to help people who are new to the Mac or consider themselves as beginners or relative beginners. The course should be very beneficial to people who have switched from PCs running Microsoft Windows to the Mac.

What is to be presented?
The presentation will include a basic introduction to the MAC Operating System (OS X), Safari & the Internet, Mail, the Address Book, and the Calendar.

Why do I need to pre-register?
Space is limited, we want to be sure there is a seat for everyone, and we want to be sure we have enough handouts for all attendees.

Where is the Grace Lutheran Church located?
Grace Lutheran is located on the corner of Kings and Harrison Blvds in Corvallis.

Should I bring my laptop?
Yes, bring your laptop if you would like to follow along on your own Mac. Also bring an extension cord. CMUG members will be situated around the room to help if you need it.

Will there be internet access?
Unfortunately we cannot provide internet access.

Will there be an opportunity for Q&A?
Due to time constraints and the amount of material to be covered, questions will be limited to clarifications of the procedures being demonstrated. CMUG regular monthly meetings include a Q&A session where all questions related to the Mac are answered.

What is the cost for the seminar?
There is no charge for attending this seminar. It is being presented as a community service as part of CMUG's 25th year celebration.

What is CMUG?
CMUG (Corvallis Macintosh User Group) is a group of people who use Macintosh computers. The objective is to provide support, training, and aid to fellow macintosh users. CMUG meets at 7:00 PM in the Ronnenkamp Hall within Grace Lutheran Church on the second Tuesday of each month. Benefits to members in addition to the regular meetings which include both Q&A sessions as well as presentations, are a very informative monthly newsletter, a mailing list to which you can submit questions that are replied to almost instantly by other members of CMUG, and software and hardware discounts provided to members by local merchants. Will there be class exercises?
There will not be any class exercises. Speakers will project what is being presented onto a large screen at the front of the room. Attendees who bring their own Macs are welcome to follow along.

Will I be able to see and hear in the back of the room?
The speakers will project the material onto a large screen at the front of the room and use a PA system to ensure that everyone can hear.

Will there be additional seminars offered at a later date?
CMUG presents special seminars from time to time, and this will likely not be the last.

Will there be handouts for the material covered?
Yes, a CD will be given to each attendee which will include links to Apple generated video and text tutorials, specific information for people switching from a PC running Microsoft Windows, a resource list for locating additional information about Hardware and Software, links to other relative web sites, and a complimentary copy of Mouse Droppings, the CMUG monthly newsletter.

What OS X version will be presented?
The presentation will be done using the latest version of Mac Operating System, Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). However most of the information presented will be applicable to 10.5 (Leopard), and 10.4 (Tiger).
